I have been active on CM in the last few weeks, yet I have not had one scammer, none from Nigeria. Probably because they are easily observed from 100 miles away - they tend to be on line all the time; their writing (especially their responses) tend to be sketchy and hard to understand; their collections of pictures tend to be highly concentrated with young (almost underage-like), Photoshop brushed, flirtatious, skinny women.

Scammers are boring, while “fakes” are more interesting at least. I define “fakes” as individuals sitting behind the computers screen and presenting themselves as someone else. There are limitless permutations of possibilities - men pretending to be women, married pretending to be single, homo pretending to be hetero, white pretending to be black, husbands fantasying about sharing their wives. I even think there are authors and research psychologists or psychiatrists trying to role play for the better understanding of the subject-matter.

“Fakes” are annoying sometimes, yet they are fascinating if you try to take a second to understand why they “pretend”, what you think?
