About RhapsodyInChains
A New (somewhat) Profile: Now with more Geek!
One day in the future, I'll learn to write a decent profile. At some further point, I may even go on to learn to keep this mythical "decent" profile properly updated, instead of letting it lapse into a sad state of neglect.
Until then, you've got this. Thanks for reading it.
My life could be described as a near perfect synthesis of Geek and Kink. For instance, I play DnD at a BDSM club.
My wife is my owner, my friend, and my partner in crime, among other roles and thus will be involved with whatever level of play I decide to engage in. I'm learning to top, so we're primarily interested in looking for a sub or switch male for us (or me) to play with. If you're considering applying, you should be decently close to my age, witty and have similar interests. General geeky-ness is a plus. It should go without saying, but you'll need to be Bisexual.
My second love is History. I'm a history major and love to discuss aspects of it with educated people, or people who wish they were educated people, or really just anyone whose willing to listen. Fitting I suppose that I plan on becoming an educator. Additionally I'm an amateur artist. Pen and Ink is a favorite of mine, as well as chalk and oil pastels, and charcoal. One day I'm sure I'll post a few pictures of my work, but one day always seems to be tomorrow, so don't hold your breath. (Edit: Did manage to post one of my works a while back, it's on my profile now)
Well I suppose that's about it for now.. I'll see about adding stuff later. Any questions, please ask away!
Now here's the part I'm bad at. How to end a profile?
............... bye?
Well. I guess that's that. |

Yay!? After 4 days on the road... Seattle!
|
| |
| |
|
|
Well it seems to be official. I'll be moving to Seattle at the end of the June.
In other news, I've been claimed by a beautifull, talented, and intelligent Domme. Suffice it to say, I'm not longer looking for anything but friends.

Well, 48 hours and 24 pages of a history paper later, I'm exhausted.? So does that mean I'm averaging half a page an hour? ? when you put it like that, doesn't sound as impressive. ??

From Good Omens...
"...Firstly, God moves in extremely mysterious,? not to say, circuitous ways.? God does not play dice with the universe, He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of any of the other players (I.E. Everybody) to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-black room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.
Secondly, the Earth's a Libra."
~Neil Gaiman? & Terry Pratchett

"There are two basic ways to understand History.
Basic way #1:? Sit in a dark library and read old, smelly books that put you to sleep.? I am not an advocate of this Basic Way; it isn't very fun.? Plus, this is definetely not one of those book.
Basic way #2:? History isn't static.? Most History reverborates through time, making things different than they'd otherwise be.? Therefore, it's important to understand it as it survives and resonates today.? Acording to this Basic Way, to experience Living History one needs to...? Live it."

Allright, so here's some more history, just a quick story tonight: The story of Mr. Alexander Graham Bell, and President Garfield.
Mr. Garfield lay dying. Though whether from the bullet or from malpractice is difficult to say. As the assassin, Charles Guiteau would famously quip during his trial "I merely shot him. The doctors killed him"
(exact wording could be slightly off, if someone can find the quote for me, I'll modify as needed).
The surgeons, 19th century medicine being 19th century medicine, did not know where the bullet struck. A great deal of effort, at great cost to Mr. Garfield's health, had been spent in probing the wound extensively for the bullet, though it could not be found.
Enter Alexander Graham Bell.? Bell had recently invented a new device to detect metal.? It was thought that this would prove to be immensely useful in determining the location of the bullet, and thus deciding if surgery was necessary or not.? Sure enough, as soon as it touched Mr. Garfields body it went off!
Ofcourse, it went off *anywhere they put it* . In fact, the damnable device would simply go off no matter where on his body they placed it. The device was pronounced a failure, no operation was done, and Mr. Garfield died.
So what's the problem? Quite simple:
The bed had metal springs.
I shit you not.

So, I'm an historian.
Okay, I'm an aspiring Historian. Meaning it's a hobby, but I'd like someone to pay me for it.
And every so often, I come across something interesting in my readings.
It should be noted that what I find interesting, is generally a little ahh different. Here's one. Without further ado, an excerpt from a Confederate privates letter home.
The order was now given to charge bayonets... & we passed forward with a cheer, not in a very regular line but each one striving to be foremost.
But in passing over the stubble or pasture field, we discovered it bore an abundant crop of blackberries, & being famished with hunger and our throats parched with thirst, the temptation was too strong to be resisted, the men stopped with one accord and the charging line of battle resolved itself into a crowd of blackberry pickers.
Officers swore or exhorted, according to their different principles, and presently succeeded in getting the line to move on. Still, whenever an unusually attractive bush was passed over, we reached down without stopping and stripped off berries, leaves and briars, which we crammed into our mouths; for days afterwards I was occupied extracting the thorns from the palms of my hands
~ Private McHenry Howard 1st Maryland, C.S.A First Manassas
And thus, the Confederate battle line turns into a crowd of berry pickers. I shit you not.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Perhaps the best explanation for studying history was given by the blind Czech historian Milan Hubl to the novelist Milan Kundera:
"The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history, Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster."
(Source: Milan Kundera, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ?????????????? I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image.
~Stephen Hawking
