Adventures in St. Augustine!
So today is day 3 in St. Augustine. We have had a wonderful time so far! I was really kind of worried because I started coming down with a cold about 4 days before the trip. I have been taking lots of vitamin C and zinc along with sinus meds. I'll have to deal with is a bit of a sore throat. Not too bad.
Day one... We went shopping! All freaking day... wow that was exhausting. But we did buy quite a bit and found some really great deals. Got 10 pairs of new panties! I love underwear sales. Also got two bras... one for me and one for my girl, Claudia. Though the lady in the store was a complete and total bitch to my husband (who is also Claudia at times). She even admitted she didn't like men. I understand all that but, if anyone is going to talk to him that way... its going to be me. I did think she might make a good domme if she could dial back the hate a bit. The other great buy of the day was the nurse's costume I got from the Adam and Eve store. I was also pleasantly surprised at the amount of not so lite fetish gear they had and even left a card. You will be seeing some stuff on my wishlist off they're website in the near future.
Day 2 - We made our way down to the historical district just before lunch time. Parked at the visitor information center, a little pricey ($10) but not too bad for all day covered parking. Trolled St. George St for most of the day. For lunch we shared a tapas sampler at The Colombian. Nom nom nom... empanadas, grilled shrimp, and scallops. Was perfect for lunch and was pretty affordable and beautiful restaurant. We walked up and down St. George St, all around the square, and looked in so many little shops I can't even remember them all. Also popped into an art gallery on the square and bought some chocolate orange wine down on St. George. After some wonderful ice cream we headed down to the beach for a little stroll and drive. Was very nice as the sun was just starting to get low and the breeze was wonderful. After the beach we played some miniature golf to the sound of thunder and the occasional sprinkling.
Today... Well this morning... we got up extra early, went down to Vilano Beach, and watched the sunrise. It was so beautiful. Walked the beach for awhile... found four conch shells! We had breakfast at this tiny hole in the wall, Sheila's Cafe, Wow... was like having mom's food in the kitchen... so good. Be for warned though... its a cash only place only. Claudia got a new dress that I hope she will wear tonight! Now relaxing in the hotel room, about to get ready for the adventures this afternoon and evening.

Post Frolicon
Well what can I say... For the time that I was there it was great. I got to reconnect with so many people that I didn't even know where to start. I even was able to squeeze in a good session on Saturday night! That was so awesome... I tied him up in a really sever hogtie and did some wonderful cbt, nipple torture, and sensory dep. Oh and a little breath play. Really was an amazing session. :)
I had to do a lot of commuting... Damn the driving at 3 in the morning sucks. But I made it and all was good. Hopefully next year I will be able to bring my partner and we can stay at the hotel and have even more fun.

Getting ready to go... I will be there all day today so I'm packing several outfits... I realized this morning that I'm actually in con mode... I got about 3 1/2 hours of sleep (a lot for a con), got up a little before 6, hopped in the shower, washed and shined (salvaged) some old latex that I thought was beyond wearable, fed kids, made coffee, got dress, and getting ready to pack a clothes bag and slap on some make up... all by 9 am. Oh and I'm writing this... Yep definitely in con mode.

It is that time of year again! Easter weekend! And in my world that means Frolicon

So I have been MIA for the last week or so.... I moved and down sized. So its been a lot of work this past week. I love my new place and it is closer to the dungeon. Takes me about 15 mins when there is no traffic. I love that. But downsizing is a bitch. I got rid of so much stuff and still have boxes of stuff that I need to call and get picked up. The place is nice and it is coming together. And before I get any farther in this... I want to give a Big Thank You to the people who helped us move. You know who you are and I want you to know that this Domme appreciates her minions.
I think every time I move I let go of a little more of the clutter that I have been clinging to since childhood. I move every 2 years or so since about 2007. That seems to be when I get restless. Its a lot of work and I feel like I am crazy with stress during the move but after and while I'm unpacking... it is oddly therapeutic and cleansing. :) |

I so was going to write about something else today.. But in light of some recent comments and issues I figured I needed to talk about respect.

I know, I know... I have been a slacker for the last week. I get busy... I promise. :P
Anyway, today I am talking about session music. For most it is all about building that atmosphere for the scene. I for the most part agree with this. I have a really hard time getting into the mood in dead silence. I really hate it when I forget my ipod with all my music on it. I usually start playing Pandora on my phone if I do that. And let me tell you... there is nothing like being in the middle of a scene and having a commercial come on over the music.
I really like my music to help me get into a good rhythm as well as setting the mood for my submissive and session in general. It helps me get those strikes down just right. ;)
Play lists are one of a domme's best friends. I need to make more. I have one that is just general session music. It lasts for an hour and when its done I know that I'm done. Keeps me from having to check the time or from going to far over the allotted time.
My session music tends to be all over the place though. I have some very melodic music, some heavy medal, some pop, a tiny bit of rap and punk. I just like the sound of the songs that I put on there. But it occurred to me that I really need to put together a few different play lists. This I feel would help my submissive really stay in the scene and really set the mood for some sessions.

After posting about the first aid kit... I started thinking about what do you do when you draw blood, either intentional or not.
Well... If its not intentional... if it is I'm sure you already have everything planned out or should. But... If it is not...
1. DON'T Panic! The worst thing you could do is panic. Your sub is counting on you to be clam and manage the scene and whatever may happen.
2. First Aid. Remember that kit we just made. Go get it out of your toy bag. At this point some may say stop the scene all together. I say you need to assess the situation first. Obviously stop what ever it was that you were doing that caused the breaking of skin but it doesn't necessarily mean you have to stop and pull your sub out of head space if it is just a little nick. But that is just my opinion.
3. Might want to put on some gloves. I like to use the latex free ones. Its just easier to just buy those and not have to worry that I might be using the wrong ones on someone with an allergy.
4. Clean the cut with an alcohol swab and put a band-aid on it. You could also put a little ointment on it before the band-aid if you feel like it needs it to prevent infection.
So there it is... my four simple steps to cleaning up a minor accidentale cut while playing.

A client of mine gave me the most recent issue of Domination Directory International on Monday. I had never seen this magazine before (don't get in a huff if you can't believe that, I'm all about internet advertising). I really enjoyed looking through the different ads and reading about the featured mistresses, but the article in the back really caught my eye. "Is Your Dominatrix Fully Equipped?"
While reading this I kept asking myself, "Do I fall in to the 'equipped' category?" First this article talked about having a dungeon or play space. "Check" I work at 1763 the biggest damn dungeon in at least the south east if not the country. Next was a little part about furnishings.. Yep we are fully furnished and with specialty rooms, like the medical room and the sissy room. Tools of the trade were next on the list... this is one that when I first started out I struggled a little with. I had to borrow a lot of the nicer stuff until I was able to get my own. And due to a wonderful friend and a very good client I was able to fully stock my toy bag with the general BDSM gear.
Then there was this updated part of the article dealing with communication devices. Such as smart phones and tablets. Hell, I hate talking on the phone. If you want me to answer you back in a timely manner... send me a text. So yeah, I'm all over this one. :P
Clothing was next on the list of must haves for the "fully equipped." Omg do I have clothing. I am in need of a few things for some more specialized role play (nurse's outfit) but for the most part I have a little bit of everything. At least for me, clients... not so much. We do have some sissy dresses in the sissy room and I have hoods and bits but nothing elaborate. I feel that I cannot fully stock the dungeon for every kind of shape and size client that comes in. So if they want a specific role play where they need to be a particular role that requires a costume or a piece of gear that really should fit them (like a puppy hood) then I require them to bring there own. Mostly.. I like them naked and kneeling anyway. LOL
"Fully equipped doesn't necessarily mean fully qualified." I cannot stress this enough with my clients , fellow dommes, and anyone else. I may have an eight foot bull whip... doesn't mean I'm going to use it on any person until I feel that I can be safe with it. Practice, practice, practice. But I do know a few potential professional dommes that had lots of money and were really just bored. They had all this great stuff but didn't really know how to use it well.
I had never heard of the term "Domination Lite" until this article. I feel like I learned something here. I had no idea that this kind of domination had a term. How cool is that?
The last thing this wonderful article talked about was the most important "gear" for a domina... It cannot be bought or made, that is a dominatrix's intelligence and active experience. It stresses on the point that, "Kinky fantasies emanate from between our ears, not between our legs, therefore a dominatrix with a creative imagination, a capacity to problem solve, and an inborn ability to read and interpret the thoughts of her submissive callers surely can consider herself fully equipped, no matter how many tit clamps she has in her cupboard. None of us should ever underestimate the value of a domina's mind. It's her very best asset!" I had to quote it from the article... I just couldn't say it better myself.

So I'm just sitting here today... and I start thinking (a dangerous thing) about spanking. There are so many different ways of doing it. And I guess it can be called different things too...
Bare hand spankings - these are exactly what it sounds like. I love bare hands... I love the sound it makes when my naked hand hits the wonderful bare flesh of a round bottom. Not to mention the lovely red hand impression I leave as a reminder.

Yep... I'm making this post from the store located in 1763 A Deviant Place of Decadence. And we are having the Decadence Valentine's Day Party.... This is wonderful and all but its fucking cold. I know what all you northern folks would say (cause I'm a transplanted one)... it can't be that cold in GA. Well with below freezing temps and omg the wind. But I'm well layered with a couple of heaters going in here to combat the blasts of cold that comes through when the smokers go in and out.
Anyway... the store looks so good after I worked on it this week. I am super proud of it. And I plan to keep it interesting and new.

Omg... Yesterday was the longest day I have had in a long time. After the DeViant Domme's party on Sat night (ended at midnight), I got home took an hour nap. Got up and dressed and we headed to Nashville, TN for my S/O's kendo test. Thank goodness our older child was with his grandparents, we did have the baby with us but that wasn't so bad. It was just so long and 48hrs with almost no sleep is tough. :P
But I'm ready for a new week and hoping for it to be a busy one. |
