A Sobering Realization

You are my wine, my reward at the end of my day
you make me feel warm and uninhibited
you bring life to my party of one.
and I am intoxicated by you?

I hold my glass as I would your face
cradled in both hands, gentle yet firm
and stare back at my reflection
in the half full glass

My image of myself, twisted and distorted
stares back at me wondering
what could you see in this woman
that holds you so close to her heart

Wanting to consume the essence
of the woman that I know as you,
with anticipation of the taste of bitter sweet
I bring you full to my mouth

Your lips - a dark ruby red in color
leads me to a nose full of fruit,
vanilla and spice with tones of floral.
and makes my mouth water for?

The taste of you,
full bodied with pepper and spice and
deep ripe fruit of black cherries and blackberries on my palate
With lingering sweet chocolate in perfect balance

I inhale you, breath you in
I taste you, sample your flavor
You sit easy on my tongue
before sliding down deep inside me and exploding

You send rippling waves
reaching out to every inch of my being
Spreading warmth through out my body
and my mind starts to feel the intoxication??of you

My mind becomes clouded, my resistance down
My senses heighten, the taste of you intensified
The warmth of your full body turns to
glowing ambers setting fire to my flesh

Needing/wanting more, I drink you in
never getting my fill of you
Craving what I can not have
I drink the last drop of my wine

Then staring at my empty glass
A sobering thought comes to mind
there will never be more.

I WILL NEVER HAVE MY FILL OF YOU.
