^{Those of us new to the lifestyle are filled with both excitement about what lies ahead & angst about all we do not know or understand. We easily deflate when we ask for guidance & none is forthcoming, or even worse, when we are brushed off or rebuffed as inconsequential.  People are still people and being in the lifestyle doesnt change that. There are those  who are truly experienced & actually enjoy sharing their knowledge w/ fledglings & newbies, so that they become a viable part of the lifestyle community...and also to protect them from following the trolls & wannabys who will be detrimental to those most vulnerable.  Others with the capability of leadership & guidance give it almost grudgingly as though it is a burdensome duty, & are happy when any wrinkle occurs to justify NOT offering that hand.  Others perhaps either feel they dont have enough to offer, or are too busy with their own lives to extend themselves. Insulate yourself from hurt by remembering this: that person is doing the best they can with what they've got....(perhaps it gives you a clue to 'what they've got' by their actions).  I for one prefer to dwell on the many givers & guiders; they remember their beginnings & the value of someone extending themselves via time & effort.
