I do not have a need to show my D status, I also think that to have a stressful for both parties Ds dynamic 247 isnt sustainable in the long term.
I enjoy a more playful and carefree environment where lovers can flourish. Said that, I would definitely respond to your display of submission in kind as a D, I wholeheartedly do believe, that being able to code switch from vanilla to the ds dynamic this way, is an extremely important part in the Ds relationship.
Arguably it is more important than having your kinks aligned 100. And it would logically follow that your response to my state of dominance should trigger your internal S. It is something that cannot be faked, or taught, it is unfortunately something that a person can temporarily loose given wrong circumstances or a wrong relationship. I do say temporarily simply because once that situation is over, people tend to return to their IDs default hardware settings.
In my experience and humble opinion, if these interactions do trigger positive emotions in both D and his sub, and in this state we have this amazing possibility of a positive feedback loop which is what makes soulmates, creates sub drop and a D high. For me, this ability to read and code switch is one of the main facets that align things just right in this kind of relationship.
