About voiceworkslave
I'm fairly new to the Lifestyle (formally entered on August 01, 2008) and am still learning who I/i am. I live primarily as a submissive, but I'm finding Dominant qualities in myself as well--could be a Switch! I have made friends with some wonderful people, and look forward to meeting more folks in the Life.
As to my moniker: voiceworkslave, it is a name which I've had long before entering the Life. Voicework is part of how I make my living, and it is my passion, hence the name.
But, I am not a slave. In the last few months I have gained a deeper understanding of what it means to be 'slave'. And 'Master'. At this time I believe that being a true slave is not a path that I can follow. Nor do I wish to train to be a slave. I allow, of course, that at some time in my life it may be my path, but I also feel that the circumstances under which that could happen would have to be extraordinary.
I say this all with the understanding that I am a novice. It is unwise to make lasting decisions based on little understanding. I am sure as my friendships and experiences grow, I will change and look back on some of my preconceptions and laugh at myself for being so naive!
I am on a journey, and at this point I can't even imagine the destination....but, I'll figure it out. And so I listen, and watch, and experience, and learn--always learn.

I received two warnings when I joined CollarMe:
1. Be careful about using a name that contains the word slave, and
2. Be careful about letting it be known that you are a newbie.
Initially, I ignored them both. I was wrong to do so with one of them.
Insofar as my screen name is concerned, initially I was overwhelmed with e-mails, but it didn't take me long to put two and two together--I amended my Profile to explain that voiceworkslave is a professional moniker, and that I am not true slave material (at least not now!) That seemed to cool the e-mails down a bit.
About being a newbie...well, that's been mixed. And that's really what I want to talk about. For the most part I have been warmly welcomed from true community members who also offered kind words of encouragement, and even more important words of warning. I treasure the kindness and caring that they have given me.
But, there is another element out there who seemingly believe that 'newbie' means 'ignorant'. For the most part they are easy to spot: the 'one line wonders' who say little about themselves, but ask a myriad of questions of you--most, if not all, relating to sexual activity; the 'send me sexy pictures' guy who not only doesn't display a profile picture of himself, but loses interest in corresponding if your sexy pictures aren't forthcoming; or the "call me" guy--he barely carries on a conversation in messages, but wants to 'talk' to you on the phone--just to get to know you!
eeeeyeah....like being your free porn is what I live for--Duh! Go buy some magazines, or porn films--fork over a couple Hamiltons for some phone sex why dontcha' cheapskates!?! |
