When I describe myself as "submissive", I don't mean that I'm weak or needy. I'm not a doormat. I'm both independent and strong-minded; I'm also mature, intellectual, stubborn, proud, ambitious and successful. I don't think of many of these things as defining features of my social personality, but they are all nonetheless there.
However, submission is a choice. At its most profound level, it is the choice of a rational, independent, emotionally stable individual in full cognisance of the implications, and with full retention of their desires and will.
