What am I missing? I once thought that common courtesy would prevail in an online website dealing with subjects so specific that only those interested in that subject would join and treat others with respect. Apparently that's simply no longer true.

I'm sick and tired of people who don't even have the decency to reply with a "Thank you but I'm not interested" reply. That would take all of what... 15 seconds to do? And it would show that common courtesy is not dead online. That also happens in conversation, where all of a sudden someone simply appears to "drop off the face of the planet" as well.

So, what am I missing? What is it I don't understand? I do know that yes, this is the net and the mores here are different from street mores, but why? What good does it do?
