I had this dream about openess and honesty and the need to know your partner, what makes her happy, sad, laugh, cry, angry or content:

The sun was shinning but there was no warmth to it, it was winter and a field of virgin snow lay in front of them. ?Which way? she asked, but I did not answer I just turned and looked at the field behind us. She turned too and saw the footprints leading to where they stood in the snow; footprints like keyholes to what lay below.
?Why,? she asked in amazement, ?are there only one set of prints?? I answered slowly, ?because I have told you of my journey that brought me here and set me beside you, those are my footprints, windows to my soul?. I then turned and gently wrapped my arms around her and continued
?We can set off on this next part of our journey separately or together, but we both must choose.
We can walk separately our footprints taking different routes, sometimes letting our paths cross in friendship then parting again.
Or we can walk beside each other hand in hand, together but separate, our footprints individual but in harmony lying alongside each other?s experiencing and discovering things together.
Or you can choose to walk in my footprints, letting me protect your feet from the cold and wet of the snow, following but not being led, choosing step by step to stay within my compass.?
With this I stepped away from her and looked back again at the field with only my foot prints acting as portals to what lay below.
?But first? I said ?you  too must  set out your prints on that field, the field of experiences, those experiences, choices, traumas and joys that made you what you are today and left you at my side, so tell me honestly and openly of your journey that brought you here.?
As I said this my prints in the snow started to fade, as indeed so did I, and she knew she had now to make a choice (?)

I then awoke and turned to see if her head lay next to mine on the pilllows, or were we again making our way alone .... but realised I was not cold from standing in a field of snow - but she had nicked all the duvet yet again (if only)!

I sit here in my study surrounded by my books with a glass of wine to hand and think of you, someone like minded, willing to take risks but not an uncontrolled gambler, independent but not an island. Someone who recognises a need to have others in their life; but wanting one of them to have a special meaning and to have that same special meaning for them. One who does not look to be controlled in their daily life but enjoys loosing control and giving the gift of control when their mind, soul and body jointly so dictates.

Time is not on my side (as my wine glass is now empty), so I will leave this now and return to my work. But before closing let me say thanks to Seseija who led Tendezvou here.
