My view of the relationship between a Dominant/Sadist and the submissive/masochist is that the Dom is lifted to a higher level of ecstasy by the degradation and suffering of the submissive. Such that children in tower are made the more beautiful by the juxtaposition of the old hags and their eventual wretchedness the worse for that beauty or the garden is the more magnificent because of the barbarism carried out among the lotus flowers, that the last moments of the victims are made exquisitely horrific by the aroma of those flowers and the you can be driven to the depths of ecstasy by simply be viewing the damnation of others.
