A D/s relationship (a good one, at least) is based on respect - respect for each partners needs and a respect for what each person brings to the relationship. Any insecure control-freak with a god complex can start barking orders and call themselves a Dominant but that's not what really makes a Dom(me) now, is it? A true Dom(me) knows that it isn't about simply using a sub to satisfy the Dominant's needs but about getting off on giving the sub what they need. It's about being able to read people, know what limits to push and when you've reached the limit. It's about being confident in your own sexuality. Its about communication. It's about being observant. It's about the mental game. Most guys I've met so far who call themselves Doms haven't been able to do this. In all honesty, it is a rare man that has all that plus that special spark of chemistry. When one does, well, that is the only time I'm willing to be submissive....and it can be amazing. That is the approach I take to domination. I look for the mental connection first...I don't want a sub that grovels - frankly, it does nothing for me; I want a sub that is confident in who they are and enjoys submission. |
