Living in east Texas: it's a beautiful place, I'll admit. But if you are discovering the dark side of desire, it's hard to meet likeminded people. East Texas is pretty well all small towns, places where you don't advertise for kink, and don't tell everyone about your private orientations. It's hard to have a sense of community, and finding a connection to the community that exists, for a new entry, is likely to be by accident. I'd love to meet others who are into BDSM, but I have no idea where to safely start. Some people know I have an interest, but there is too much risk to not only myself but others to openly broadcast it to the world. This is not Houston or Dallas. This is Athens, at the outer fringe of the Cedar Creek Lake area. And it would be social suicide. As I say, I assume the community is small.
