Most of us have a darker side.
Some of us ignore it...
Some of us flirt with it...
Some of us run away from it...
Some of us cultivate it...
Some of us revel in it...
Some of us harbour it and control it...
Some of us are consumed by it.
These are not mutually exclusive. The ultimate goal, for the Master, is to revel in it, without being consumed by it. The Master must harness the darkness in him and control it. He must become frightening, but not in virtue of tipping over the edge. The slave must see the psycho in him, but a psycho that is kept in check by a sensible and unyielding ego. The superego simply has to go. It does not belong in the bedroom. Not for the Master.
The ultimate goal for the slave (or more accurately the submissive who wishes to become a slave) is the more dangerous one. The slave will not be content to revel in her masochism. She does not want to be a slut one moment and a normal, perfectly ordinary human being the next. She wants to be captured. She wants to be ruled. She does not want a moment of her own breath.
Most submissives will never find such oblivion. The fault need not be their own. There are few men (or women) capable of carrying the burden of looking after someone who becomes totally reliant on them. Most of them fuck it up. Many submissives implicitly realise this, which is why they often prefer to flirt with darkness, or even run away from it, instead of being consumed by it. The damage caused when falling into incapable hands is sometimes irrevocable.
But there are those who know the risks involved and thus decide to seek each other out. The Master searches for the one who has the will to trust him to bring her to oblivion; the submissive searches for the one who has the will to take her there without falling into oblivion himself; the one who can turn her into a slave to his passions without making himself a slave of his own passions. |
