Well, I just got back from a 15 month deployment in Iraq, and I must say that It is a strange feeling to be back. Before anyone asks, no, I didn't kill anyone and no I didn't get shot at. I was relatively safe over there. In fact, a close friend of mine (she was like my little sister) was shot and killed up in New Jersey. Apparently, I was safer than she was.
When I first deployed, I was against the war, but I did what I was told. Being out there has changed my perspective. I now know that we CAN NOT pull out now. Bear in mind, this is coming from someone who will probably end up going to Iraq again within the next two years if the conflict continues. I just wouldn't feel right leaving the Iraqi people to fend for themselves against Iraq, Syria, and Turkey, all of whom want to "expand".
Enough politics. It is good to be back and I have already noticed many changes in my immediate area and I will have the opportunity to see more when I go home to Tennessee next week.
