Personally I think the differences in quality of a slave can be measured by one simple well known instruction and how the slave reacts to that instruction.  The instruction is simply the age old "jump".  A bad slave is going to ask "why?", a good slave is going to ask "how high?", but a great slave is just going to start jumping, knowing that if the height of the jumps were important, it would have been specified in the instruction.  Faith.  That's what it all comes down to I think.
