14 years ago at 8:50 AM I was sitting at a computer, surfing,checking email and winding down from a night shift. The world changed that moment. My attention was shared between the net and the TV as the news kept coming... we all know what we were doing that morning,it is the JFK moment of our generation.
I know now that since 9-11-01 the world has become a worse place. Face it, we hate more, we are more cautious about who we let into our circle of friends, we all are more weary of our surroundings and We don't trust our own Nation's leaders.
Whatever you want to call them, terrorists, extremists,bullies or some racist remark entered here. They succeeded in doing what they wanted to do... they have turned people against people in one way or another.
I have said a few nasty things to, voiced my opinion about some of Americans issues and attitudes and been down right mean to some of You. Today I let it rest and will pause for a moment of silence sometime between 8:45 and 10:30 AM. Not because I take back anything I have ever said about Americans or the United States as a whole. But, because 2,996 souls were taken and many many more were injured, These people deserve RESPECT and the least I can do is show my RESPECT.
My views and opinions are my own, as are My actions. I choose to say and do as I feel, I live in a free country which gives me the right to do so. Yet, I don't feel that today is a day that I need to share My sometimes cruel opinions, because today we are all in the same mind space, today we all should reflect on what the future holds for this place.
Today there are millions of people fleeing their homes because the terror still goes on. What have we done in 14 years of war,nothing. How many more lives ( besides the 2,996 on 9-11-01) have nations lost because Governments thought the best thing to do against terror was to fight it on the ground,in the air and on the seas...tens of thousands of lives.
I know we can't just bring troops home and expect things to improve. I know diplomacy with terrorists doesn't work either, I also know that we can't just sit back and let bullies get their way. That's what these people are.....BULLIES
What we can do is educate our sons and daughters about the past, about what respect is and how to respect others. Teach them that just because You believe in a cause. You don't have to use violence to get someone to go along with you. You can have different beliefs, not everyone is going to agree with them... but that is your belief to hold onto. This is the way the world is that they have inherited from us. It is going to be up to them to bring the change because we all know our generation has already lost the battle that has been going on for way before we were here.
Forget about sending those letters to your governments..it is time to stand up and take action...voice your opinion on the net, on the street, in front of a government building or parliament. Show them through your votes that You won't stand for them to waste the lives of our young men and women anymore.... Tell them you want to see not only the 7 richest nations in the world taking on this fight through diplomacy... but that ALL leaders of this world need to get on the same page or there won't be much a world left to fight for in 20 years.
This conflict is 2000 yrs old, and our politicians think that sending tens of thousands of feet on soil is going to end it.. the only thing that will end this war is the understanding of four or five nations that this is not the world 2000 yrs ago. That if the views of other nations can change , then they can too. And that one day the oil is going to run dry and really we don't need it now anyway. Forget about sending planes over terrorist targets...send the drones!
Today, respect those people that survived and passed away in an act of terror, but also today reflect on what You as a person can do to make the world a better place for at least one other person. Today, respect everyone, because tomorrow who knows what will happen.. we just know that there will be more refugees,more war and more bombs dropping all because of religions, opinions and 2000 years of bullies fighting for nothing...RESPECT EACH OTHER ! |
