Just thinking about the saying "This can go one of two ways." It is so flawed that there are many different combinations of how decisions can go. Of course it can go really bad or really good. What about the neutral option? Everything just stays the same. You can find out that maybe it did go great, but there are some nasty side effects.
So many people just think in extremes, I'm guilty of it as well at times. We all just need to remember that we can make decisions, but what happens afterwards is mostly out of our hands. When dealing with variables that are not human, it is easier to analyze what could happen and plan for what's to come. When dealing with humans, it can be completely random. Even if you have know the person all your life, you can never truly tell how they will react.
