Received 10 m. (about 32') of hemp rope in the mail yesterday from Japan.  It has a very unique smell and texture, being both soft and supple and a bit scratchy at the same time.  I will be tying my sub tonight...

Tied my first Shibari rope harness last night using 1/2" poly weave rope, which worked well (see pics).  I would never use rope of a larger diameter, however.  I created the diamond pattern down my subs torso by simply twisting the rope, and threading through back to front; next time, I'll use overhand knots there, as they'll create a more symmetrical pattern and I'll be able to maintain the creative tempo through the tying process more accurately and consistently.  The rope was one half of a 75' piece, with the ends taped tightly with electrical tape and burned to prevent unraveling; that length worked well, allowing for some additional creativity in the pattern, and other bondage possibilities.  I tied her wrists with other ropes using the Zip- Snare, though I may tie the body harness and wrist restraints all using the same rope next time.  After tying her Zip-Snared wrists to the handles screwed into my wall, I proceeded to wax play; I used a single uncolored, unscented taper candle, and the effect was intense.  Tapers cause much sharper, quicker pain, but it fades faster; we were both surprised to find that her inner-thigh areas were the most sensitive (I dripped in two of the diamonds on her torso, both breasts and nipples, and her inner thighs).  Next time for wax play, I'm going to use some play-safe colored candles, and use her naked torso and body like an empty canvas to create visually pleasing patterns with rope and a color montage with wax.

Beginning to explore, learn about and master the techniques of Shibari; my sub is just as interested as I am, and things have been going quite acceptably for us.  Last session, I tied a breast harness and a crotch harness on her, and used zip snares around her wrists to tie her to the arms of the chair I seated her in.  I then blindfolded her, and caressed her very lightly and sparingly, bringing her tactile senses to a sharp focus.  Next, I used my black & purple suede flogger, dragging it over her face, (so she could smell the suede), letting it cascade down her nicely bound and presented breasts, and dragging it back up.  Then I slowly began to flog her breasts with a cross-motion x-pattern technique.  I stopped every 2.5- 3 minutes, caressed her down, then slowly resumed.  When she seemed to be picking up her endorphin and adrenaline space nicely, I moved her to her hands and knees and flogged her ass with the identical technique, stopping and starting just as before.  When I finished, her breathing was different, and she seemed almost lethargic.  I rubbed creme into her flogged skin, and held her to me as she came down.  Next, I want to tie a full body harness, but I need to buy some more rope first.  Shibari is interesting to me because the intricate nature of some of the rope patterns, and also that it doesn't use many "hard and fast" knots;  it's more like the art of creative design, rope manipulation, and patient attention to detail.
