Back in town from the road-trip across the country. I've brought home a lot of great memories, some really cool pictures and a woman to share my life with. Well, I didn't actually find her on the road, she went with me. We started the trip as good friends and it grew into something truly wonderful!

A little about myself.
I'm known as "J the Rope Guy" in the NE Ohio BDSM scene. If you've met me at a local function, I probably had a rope in my hand, or on my body, or on the body of those folks nearby. You get the idea.
I enjoy a wide and eclectic mix of what life has to offer. Sitting on the lawn at Blossom Music Center listening to the Cleveland Orchestra, going to a movie, spending the weekend camping or canoeing at one of the dozen state parks in Ohio, motorcycle rides down winding country roads through the fall foliage, and dozens of other activities fill my life.

I missed her memorial and I'm profoundly saddened by that.

Well, it's been a while. I stayed unemployed for a whole 3 weeks and am back in the grind again. Damn. I was hoping I could avoid it until the weather was nicer and I could get some golfing in, but when a friend asks for your help, you just can't turn them down.
So? What's up next? Well, an invitation to do a suspension at SMARTFest (ohiosmart.org) in the beginning of May and then a glorious trip to ShibariCon (try that with a dot and a com) and then a trip to Vegas at the end of May.
And right at the beginning of this, I meet someone. I have no idea where it will go or even IF it will go, but DAMN, I love this time in life. Standing at the very cusp of something. Will it be a mountain or a molehill?
We'll see.

Finding a building suitable for my needs has been very disheartening (ask if you're curious). And, to top off the difficulty in deciding the direction of my near future, a very interesting contracting proposal has come up that would make it possible for me to increase my savings quite a bit in a relatively short period of time. So the question becomes, jump back into the corporate pool for a quick and lucrative dip or do what you really enjoy and just make it.

SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY
This is a general message to all submissive women who might read this journal.
I have a very close and personal friend of mine who is a submissive woman recently started corresponding with a Master from Kent, Ohio. When she asked him if he would speak with a Dom friend of hers (me) he responded...
"Anyone that needs someone else to make decisions for her is not someone I'd be interested in. There is no way in hell I would ever allow myself to be judged by another Dom no matter how much of a personal friend he is to you. That's absolutely ridiculous! Who the hell does he think he is? He's certainly no better than anyone he has the audacity to sit in judgment of and you should be ashamed of yourself for even allowing it. What a crock."
I wrote to him to tell him that it was a safety issue and not a control issue to which he responded with insults and blocked me.
(I won't bother to post his reply word for word)
Here's the SAFETY ISSUE...
When a "Dom" is unknown in the local community and "doesn't enjoy groups" and refuses to even talk with someone whose opinion you respect, it's a RED FLAG. The first thing abusers do is isolate you from others. I realize that it is up to everyone to decide how they will approach society in large, however, safety must always override scene etiquette and personal preference of the Dom.
Read the forums, get opinions, don't allow yourself to be shunted off into a situation where you have no safety net in place. |

Back from Vegas and OH what a time!
Went to the munch at PT's Pub on Friday, met some nice folks. Tracy and I also were invited to a play party the next night and stopped in and met some more nice folks. I wish we could have stayed (or played a bit) before we left, but onto the Red Rooster we went. We had arranged to meet a couple there and didn't want to stand them up. The VRR is an interesting place. Not big on BDSM but very active in the swinger's community.
What's next? Let's see, another party to go to this Saturday over on the West side of town and then here comes Christmas! After that, Vegas and LA are in the plans for the week of January 15th. |

Well, I know where I'll be next weekend, it's VEGAS BABY! Hoping to hear of some nice clubs to play at and maybe some events between the 14th and 17th.

Well the demo went very well. I was able to cover a whole bunch of ties and knots in the 2 hour time frame. The party afterwards was fun too. I was able to do a "first time" suspension for my demo model. As I expected, as soon as she was lifted, she was out of it. Total headspace. Afterwards, she was washed up. It takes a lot out of you.

These words now have new meaning to me. As I progress in my rigging abilities I find I am drawn more and more to rope bondage. The simple pleasures of rope on skin, the intricate ropework binding a body, the freedom of restriction that allows the mind to soar while the body is bound.
All of these things are making it easier and easier for me to slip into the world of Shibari and leave the mundane reality of life behind.

Set up a "safety call" with a trusted friend and give that friend the meeting location and time and name of the person you are meeting. Be safe. Ask to see their ID and verify the name you gave to your "safety friend". Be safe. Ask for references of people in the local scene. Be safe. You can also go to the message boards and check out the Health and Safety discussions for more information or to ask questions of the general public. Be safe.
If the Dom hems and haws and gives you excuses why they don't want to do those things then drop that idiot like a hot rock.
