I usually don't go in for this type of thing, but I just saw a commercial for some fake Christmas tree and it dawned on me that for the first time in over a quarter of a century I will be spending Christmas alone... I mean when you get right down to it, it's December 25th, no different than May 12th or August 2nd... Just one more day in a string of days that ultimately run out... But after decades of conditioning, the holiday spirit, the heart warming movies, the truly unexplainable joy of watching your son open a gift he really wanted but wasn't expecting.... Theses things leave a lasting impression on your heart. This year there will be no son to open gifts, no gift wrapping covering the floor, no tree, it will be December 25th, the day after December 24th and the day before December 26th. Like today, it will be just another day. One more Day in the finite chain. Nothing special. And that will make it so UN special.... |
