My life has been outdoors-based. I care not for towns and cities. I haven't owned a TV in years. I read. I do. I am not a liberal. I am a 2nd Amendment supporter. I hunt and fish to supplement food. I raise up hens for eggs. Do a garden. I am a dog man, and am with my 3rd Queensland Heeler. My friends here on the small farm raise and train working Shepherds. I seek more than the heat. I want a woman of heart, ethics, and courage. Intelligence is required. I spent From ages 3 to 11 on a placer-gold claim in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Lived 12 years off-grid; milk goats, garden, bees, chickens. Live remote in many areas of the Southwest Deserts. Always as a hermit. Lived in a treehouse in Hawaii. When camped up for 6 months on the Black Rock Desert, it was 60 miles offroad, and a 340 mile round trip to do the monthly Reno for supplies thing.
I have practice desert Zen for 10 years.
I worked 10 years in a Tibetan-based residential treatment center. I developed and ran an adventure-based, therapeutic wilderness program for severely- emotionally-disturbed teens. The next 10 years I worked, concurrently, for social services and juvenile probation in Sonoma County. For SS I worked the children's crisis shelter, and for juvenile I worked lockup, house-arrest, and gang-suppression. In the late 90's I was with Burningman, as senior staff, shift-commander, and training mentor for the Black Rock Rangers. I have worked as backcountry guide, and trek leader for European travelers. '07 through '10 I would spend my summers doing firewatch in the mountains of Oregon for a loggin' outfit. The winters I would camp along the hotspot smuggling trails in the desert near the border and do unofficial volunteer stuff for Border Patrol. In my winter camp north of Yuma I got a bit broke up and ended up with a cast up to my hip. Because I didn't have a 'fixed address" I couldn't get followup medical care, so I cut the cast off and drove back here to the jungleland of NC. And that's the name of that tune... |
