Hello to all.  This has been a rather bad winter, hasn't it.  Snow on the ground as I write this and bitterly cold, but as soon as tomorrow, it is going to get much warmer!

I would describe myself as intelligent, steady in a kinda introverted way, hard-working, surrendered individual.  Surrendered as in knowing who I am and a willingness to go for it.  I have some lifestyle experience, not enough, actually, but interested in more, if someone is patient enough to guide me.
I am going into this with a real sense of humility and am not at all full of myself.  So if this strikes even a chord....also, I concentrate on my health and taking care of myself, so I think others might be pleasantly surprised in that regard.  The photo is about 3 years old, but i have lost probably 25 pounds since it was taken, and plan to lose 15 more to get to my doctor's idea of ideal weight for my frame.  I'm muscular too, so that makes my weight look slimmer, if that makes sense.  Interested in a wide variety age-wise.  Consider a reply, just talking even is great fun, imo.  john
Think I heard the other day that Kansas City is one of the worst, maybe the worst town in the country for dating.  I can't disagree with that assessment, having lived other places where dating seemed to be much easier.

Pervert hiding behind his computer.  Saw that in a personal ad the other day from a woman, as in "don't be some pervert hiding behind his computer".  Of course it was an ad by a KC woman.  Then I got to thinking, am I a pervert hiding behind a computer?  I don't think I am, but I do know that I am available to meet people if they show a sincere interest...not that many are taking me up on that, lol.  But I think there are problems in the internet dating and meeting arena, just because a lot of folks feel like they are interacting with a bunch of losers while they themselves are not losers.  And almost all think that way, if they are honest enough to admit it.


I read most of a book at the bookstore the other day.  Don't remember the title...sorry!...but it was about how to use Kaizen in one's personal life.  The thesis is that one can slowly change themselves or accomplish things by taking it really slow, so that you don't have resistance to change and can adapt to the new demand easily.  For example, someone who wants to lose weight might take the first bite out of a candy bar and then spit it out and eat the rest.  Or if you want to start flossing daily but just can't seem to do it, start with one tooth a day!  The thing is, you have to do it really slowly and increase your activity over time and  have faith that if you continue to do these very minute changes you will be able to increase them gradually and soon you will not want the candy bar or you will floss your whole mouth.  I have been using it lately and it works.  You feel a sense of accomplishment even if it is a very small task, plus you are developing discipline and building confidence in your ability to do things.  If anyone is interested, it is a short book, and I will try to find out the title for anyone who might want to know it. It was actually written by a psychologist or psychiatrist but it is written in plain English and is based on the theories of Deming in building up the Japanese economy.  In the book, it said this method was used to gear up industries for the effort in World War II in the US.  Basically, the goal is continual improvement over time, making very small do-able changes.  It is really an exciting concept!
