Dear Reader, A brief description about me... hmmm. I was born and raised in central South Dakota, and grew up on the family farm. Just as I was becoming old enough to really help, we began to get out of the farming business, but even still, I have fond memories of what it used to be. There are days that I miss that life, and the way we (my family) used to be. I still strive to hold to one old fashioned farmers trait that I still hold dear to my heart, and that is to always try to be a “Jack of all trades and a master of none”. As for my pedigree, well, I’m a complete, but proud mutt. On my father’s side of the family there is a long standing tradition of farmers, about fifth generation I believe. On mom’s side of the family, Irish immigrants and back woodsmen who became ferocious miners and loggers. These were the strongest, hardest, and most caring and giving individuals you would ever have likely met and their stories, triumphs, and simple ways of living have influenced me to no end. All this has given me a background to which I am very proud. I would not change my parentage for all the earthly goods in the world. Myself, well, I'm six foot, five inches tall; with a big upper body (and admittedly a full round belly), much like the Norsemen of old to which I am akin. My hair is dark, dark brown, and my eyes are green with gold fleck. I've the strength of a horse and the demeanor of a lone wolf. I am a force of nature to be reckoned with when those I love are threatened, but more often than not I am as calm as the stillest of waters. Most people find that I am nothing more than an overgrown teddy bear. Others will notice I’m awkward and shy, some even see me as antisocial. Let’s just say for arguments sake I take my time to get to know and trust folks, and I don’t usually have much to say. I’m just not the opinionated kind. To sum it up, hard work has made me strong, time has made me gentle, and love has tempered me to the consistency of granite. I am hard enough to stand unweathered through the very worst of storms, strong enough to be leaned upon when you are weary or troubled, and secure enough to enjoy the peace, and tranquility that can only be found in silence. Now as for matters of the Spirit… Here is a quote from the movie 'Kingdom of Heaven' that really sums up my spiritual views: [Hospitaller to Balian] "I put no stock in religion. By the word religion I have seen the lunacy of fanatics of every denomination be called the will of God. I've seen too much religion in the eyes of too many murderers. Holiness is in right action, and courage on behalf of those who cannot defend themselves, and goodness. What God desires is here [points to Balian's head], and here [points to Balian's heart], and what you decide to do every day will make you a good man...or not." That being said... Though I'm not a religious person, I am deeply spiritual. In matters of the heart... well after several long years I am on the mend. I am in the middle of a divorce after a period of four years of separation. It's not something I'm proud of and I would rather not talk about it. Let's just say that it was a result of my careless youth, I've learned, I've lived, accepted that which was my own fault and picked up my life and am ready to move on to a better and brighter future. Most probably wouldn't mention this in a profile, but I believe it's best to be upfront and honest. No point in wasting time if this turns you away... it's not a pretty thing; for me it is a most distasteful business. And so with that... I hold honesty and integrity above all other virtues, and though I know the truth can be a many colored thing, I also know that truth is seen through personal eyes, and no two truths are exactly the same. The words herein are the truths I find within myself and of myself. I offer them as a gift until such a time that you may get to know me and discern your own truth. Thank you for taking an interest and the time in which to read all of this. In this age of haste and hurriedness, anybody that takes the time to read an entire description has earned a bit of respect in my eyes. Farewell and best wishes dear reader. Sincerely, friesian~
