It has been our experience that a great number of those that want to get involved in this lifestyle aren't really clear about the dynamics involved. When people are alone, and one of them is tied up, and the other is standing over them with a flogger or some other implement, this is NOT the time to have a serious mismatch of expectations.
We use an intensive 'check-list' so that everyone is clear on their role(s) during a session and there are no unwanted activities. This may sound somewhat calculating and perhaps strip the imagination of what some believe is spontaneity, but it clarifies... and the end result is much more comfortable for ALL parties involved. After all, this is, in addition to being a very discrete situation, one that is both safe and sane.
