Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.” ― Tao Te Ching I have taken a lot of philosophy over the years, I'm one of those they warn against with far too much book learning for their own good. The above quote is one that resonates at this point in my life. I apply my thoughtfulness, inquisitiveness, and relentless pursuit honed in my professional life to my D/s interactions. I want to discover and understand my partners kinks. I enjoy that aspect of discovery as much as I do the slow removal of clothing leading up to a scene. The mind is where we keep our kinks stored; accessing that properly is 51% of a successful scene (in my opinion at least). I fall into the soft/sensual Dom category in how I approach D/s. Holding a partner close, feeling their body/energy, with touch feely given/received being something I crave. I let a relationship deprive me of that once and have come to understand how central to making me happy that is. On the other end of the spectrum, I enjoy a good physical scene. A good hard flogging, caning, spanking, or the act of a takedown scene can be so mentally refreshing after a long week.
