I think that D/s is based around a psychological bond between two people. Its more stable then a normal relationship because of the amount of sacredness that surrounds it. There are no generic rules, apart from general human courtesy to others, and the particular set of rules set for individual relationships, I think its a relationship of respect, compassion, a bond that although can be broken, never truly can be left behind.. like a mirror breaking, all the pieces cannot possibly be picked up.
