About Thrashfest
Settled in a vanilla life and vanilla relationship, but discovered BDSM at University and it just won't go away. Seeking a likeminded lady, probably in a similar situation, to create our own private moments of retreat into release and completeness as be friends with privileges of the kinky kind. Favourite TV: Horizon, Babylon 5, Inspector Montalbano. I had a brief infatuation with Big Bang Theory but ultimately found it far too same-ish despite its ingenuity and erudition. *sigh*. In adolescence I loved ST:TOS but grew up to loathe the franchise (nearly two decades of fanfiction ....) Nowadays give me Alistair Reynolds' twisted hard-SF riff on Edgar Rice Burroughs' Barsoom in Terminal World.
Favourite places to linger: good coffee shops, the British Museum, towpaths.
I got into the kink realm with a GF in UG school who, as a virgin still, announced that once we started 'going all the way' she rather thought she'd like to be spanked -- but the bondage came first anyway. OK, I've had profiles on here now and again for a few years but never really felt the urge to use this feature until recently. I made the mistake last week of watching a BBC4 documentary about the novel 50 Shades of Grey. Why oh why are the literary and media communities so determined to portray sadistic dominants and masochistic submissives as broken souls of one variety or another? The film Secretary wound me up just as much. Admittedly watching Maggie G. getting spanked over a desk I'm hardly going to complain about, but why does a woman who likes spanking and BDSM play have to be a self-harmer? And Spader's character is just set-munchingly mad. There's no correlation between BDSM preference and formative trauma guys! Get with the 21st Century guys, Freud went out with the steam engine.
Heck it's probably largely just a normal distribution thing with the BDSM community sitting in the 20% end of the curve where level of intensity of physical stimulation found pleasurable is that much more intense than folk in the 60% majority band let alone the hot-baths-and-hardly-touch-me hypersensitives down in the other 20% tail.
