What a surrealistic day. The Mayan Calender "End of the World" thing, I fax a form to my financial people to move $15,000 from my Traditional IRA to a Roth IRA which will cost me about $3,500 in federal and state taxes. Ow. Bastards. I write a check to donate $1,000 to my ER and hand it to the hospital vice president for which the department and the VP are very appreciative. That felt good. Then I stand by helpless and watch a beautiful 36 y.o. lady die in my ER, her final battle lost to cancer. I guess for her...the world did end today...and a new one began. So to her - the Mayans were right. The world did end. Mayans "1" us "0". I hit the gym, workout, shower, fresh clothes, then off to my neighbor's End of the World party. The image of this dying girl's pained then lifeless face won't leave my mind. I drink. I am a drinking lightweight, this doesn't feel good. What a weird day this has been. Ya just can't make up this stuff. I need a hug. |
