I just finished reading Sacher-Masoch's Venus in Furs. I'm still reeling from the beauty of the language and the way that he wrote. Of course, for me the most compelling part of the experience was the idea that was presented: of pain as a pleasure...and of finding a mistress who truly relishes in giving pain to one who loves her. I was a little bit disturbed by the ending, the "moral" of the story. Rather than to see Severin "cured" of his desire to serve, I would have loved to see Wanda and the Greek get married and have Severin stay on as their personal (love) slave. Of course, that's just me. ;) There's probably a lot more significance that I haven't hit upon yet, but honestly, as a horny 19yo who is still looking for a D/s relationship, I just really liked to read about the whipping!
