About sub1967

What's shakin' bacon?

Goodness gracious. I am stunned when I read some of the profiles of the dominant ladies here in Missouri. It's like Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but all of them are named Grumpy. Oy vey!

I remember a silly little story I read somewhere about a puppy in the park that was chasing its tail in frenetic circles.

An old dog trots by and asks, "Son, what are you doing?"

The puppy exclaims, "I have figured the meaning of life is the pursuit of happiness, and that happiness is in my tail. If I diligently chase after it, someday I will catch it and finally be happy."

The old dog clears his throat and says, "Yes, my son, I, in my small way, have found that happiness is in my tail, but chasing after it just makes me tired. However, when I go about my normal business, happiness follows me instead."

A pirate walks into a saloon, and he limps up to the bar.

The bartender asks for his pleasure.

"AARR! I'll have a rum and coke without the coke."

The barkeep looks down and sees the pirate's wooden leg.  "What happened to your leg?"

"AARR! I was in a sea battle, and a cannonball lopped it right off.  It hurt like hell, but at least I'm not in Davey Jones' locker.  I got me a new one now," the scoundrel replies as he knocks the wooden leg with his right hand that is actually not a hand but a hook

"What happened to your hand?" the bartender asks.

"I was in a swordfight, and it got sliced off at the wrist.  But it sure does look better than the other guy!  HARHARHAARRR!"

Just then, the barkeep notices the pirate's eyepatch.

"Did you lose your eye in a swordfight, too?"

The pirate replies,"No, a bird pooped in me eye."

"Bird poop caused you to lose your eye?"

"AARR!  No, you see, it was me first day with me hook!"

Well, it came to my attention that Missouri is in an earthquake zone, and the area is overdue for a seismic episode.  Great...tornadoes, floods, earthquakes...what's next?  FIRE AND PESTLENCE?! Perhaps throngs of frogs and swarms of locusts after that?  I'm beginning to think that this place isn't safe!  HAHA!

I remember the first day I rolled into St Louis.  I had NPR on the radio, and they were debating the study that deemed my new hometown as the most dangerous in America.  At the time, I was unaware of such a study, so you can imagine my surprise upon the realization that I was jaunting through the very neighborhoods that were the point of discussion.  I guess the Tourism Board forgot to put that in the brochures!  OY!

My inability to locate a suitable Chinese carryout is continuing to be the bane of my existence.  Who would have thought that finding an edible bowl of wonton soup would be such a daunting task?  Certainly, the problem is not the lack of restaurants; sometimes there are two in a city block.  Nonetheless, I will carry on with my quest though it may not yield good fruit or egg rolls.

I was taken aback recently by the reaction I received when I grimaced at the realization that potato salad in this state is ruined by the infusion of mustard and relish in the recipe.  This bastardization is an affront to decent picnic cuisine, and it must be eradicated from existence!  I'll contact Homeland Security!  Perhaps Bush can give the German chancellor another back rub at the next G8 summit!  Something has to be done!
Oy vey!  Drivers in St Louis are the most impolite people on the planet.  I guess the middle finger is the state bird here.

I loved the fireworks at the Arch on the Fourth of July; however, DC and New York put on a better show. Loads of fun!

I need a haircut badly.  Geez Louise.  This is the longest I've let my hair grow in years.  I even have sideburns right now.  Ugh!  I'm doing an Elvis impersonation during the jelly doughnut years.  Thank ya--thank ya very much.

You know you are getting older when you start getting hair growing in the weirdest places.  I understood the nose, but the freakin' ear hair is grossing me out.  There was even a GREY one the other day. UGH!Pretty soon, I am going to have to trade in my groomer for a weedeater.

Well, it looks like I've had a couple of chances that got pretty close to being fruitful, but as usual, it looks like I crashed and burned before I could get things going.  C'est la vie.  C'est l'amour.  Things like this don't deter me though.  I've been shot down by plenty of women.  A fella can get quite calloused to such rejection, but I'm made of tougher stuff.  With or without a woman by my side, I am happy.  It has been a couple of beautiful days.  I love the rain.  Maybe I should move to Seattle...or London!
