Looking for some help / advise !

I am completely new to the lifestyle, all my vanilla stuff has ended in failure. Could be because of all the fantasies and desires I have that seem right at home here. ( Women tied up and helpless in my power, yum) I have absolutely no fantasies or desires to be in a submissive role, however that doesn't stop me from enjoying doing things for my partner, as long as it's my initiative and not some sort of requirement. However I have no desire to treat a woman like a p.o.s. or control them 24/7. The idea that a woman would need my permission to dress or go to the bathroom just isn't something I can even imagine doing.

So .... do I have a place in this lifestyle and if so what is it? Submissive and thus Switch are totally out, but does a person need to know they are dominant to be dominant? What makes a Dominant anyway??

Any thoughts or ideas would be very welcome.
