I really gravitate toward intelligence, kindness, and adventurousness - guys who are both light-heated & serious, athletic, masculine (UN-affected variety), and just...fun. I genuinely bring the same qualities to the table. For me, there are 3 key factors: BRAIN, HEART, and HUMOR. Irreverence and sarcasm - with insight but not mean-spiritless. Obviously, that sometimes elusive in-person chemistry is imp also. But, with that, a little bit of focus, and time...good things can happen. In addition, I am really looking for someone who can *really* step up to the plate and display a consistent and reliable ability to emotionally communicate. If someone can't meet halfway on even the most basic levels in the beginning, what confidence do you have that there's a solid foundation to build upon? A quiet confidence, an ability to lead and follow, to display strength as well as not being afraid to show weakness at times, and the knowledge that all of the above only evolves positive growth.
I'm also really looking for a guy who is just passionate about life, the things he's doing, and the people/relationships he cares about. I also really lean towards a non-affected and unpretentious aura in someone who might choose otherwise given what they have going on. Other likes: Someone who's confident yet self-effacing, able to be silly, shows care and respect to those he doesn't have to. He has a career, that hopefully is at least stimulating, but is not defined by it. I like it when there's a book, a writer, another person, or a place in the world that hits you; inspires you. I have many. Perhaps play or have a passion for a sport? (tennis, biking, running for me). I really would love to do other athletic/outdoor adventure activities with someone, and while you care about being in-shape, you're still up for a late-night pitstop at Magnolia or Billy's. Of course, I like sexy and handsome, but that comes in many forms. That said, I tend (I didn't say 'always'!) to lean towards guys with a bit more height, lean/slimmer/toned, usually some body hair, sometimes facial too, and nothing wrong with a well-placed tattoo (or, two). That off-beat, whip-smart, wry-humored, kind "nerd factor" just gets me going. (but, honestly, nothing is laid in stone; chemistry is chemistry)
Now, getting past that superficiality (!), a guy who also has a passion for news/politics, culture, just...knowledge and new information - about something you already know about, in along with things you may not. I really like someone with a 'creative bent' - whether that means making a living out of it, I don't know. Some further help with my fledgling art collecting would be awesome. With any of the above and an open mind, we'll likely have a lot to talk about and share. |
