My own beliefs: There are two kinds of slavery existing in the world today. Enforced slavery with over 30 million accepted and tolerated owned slaves and consensual slavery with as yet an unknown number of slaves. If we take only the first figure that actually means that at any one time, one in every 300 people on earth is owned as property by others and devoid of all human rights and civil liberties. Some people are born with a genetic disposition for slavery and have the necessary submissive and slave thought process mindset to function and be contented with being owned property. Exposure to freedom actually pollutes their psyche and depletes their natural submission. To them slavery gives them stability and a sense of purpose and direction. It also gives then a sense of personal safety and security even when subjected to the most cruel and harsh of slavery regimes. Ancient custom and tradition down through at least five millennia have dictated that slaves be treated differently to freeborn people and that they are seen to be different. Many societies kept slaves completely naked and also shackled them in restraints, collared, branded and in some cases even castrated or chastity restrained them.
