How did it get to be 2013? Time flies like an arrow (fruit flies like a banana, sigh). Many adventures and many lessons.

Odd how one's one predictions come true; less than a ago apparently I was thinking that I would meet someone in the non-scene world.
Well, I met firewillow as a folk dancer and pagan, discovered we loved so many of the same things and created complementary visions of the world and people in our heads.
And we discovered that we were also destined to be Master and slave. Strange how these little rifts in the fabric of the universe open onto each other, and how cliched, and true, it is that when we let ourselves catch the currents, we will be washed up on interesting shores.
So Simon Blackthorne has his girl, his dancing partner and his love, and the true adventure begins. More, indeed much more, to follow!

Ah Salsa...lead/follow...totally alien to a folk dancer at first...dancing with an advanced level sub friend who kept saying "for heaven's sake, you just spanked my ass, LEAD!!! " Yeah, well, I know what I'm doing with a paddle, and folk dance is all about the feet..salsa is hardly about the feet at all..so give me a break here!?
That was a while ago; now I'm getting the hang of it...its FUN!

Something I wrote in a message today that I realized was a critical part of who and how I am...
"Although I have protocol and rules and consistency in the way I have floggers and paddles and canes, I prefer that my girl follow me naturally and pay attention instinctively. I tend to lead very much in the moment, and the what and how today can be very different from yesterday."
I make the what and how that I need very clear at the time, and dont expect someone to be a mind reader, but I dont want to hear "but that's not what you said the other day".
I know for some folk that's too much to take, but I need that flexibility and adaptability, or least the willingness to learn it.

Winter Solstice: for me, the new year; time to say goodbye to the old and bring in the new.?
Taking some good advice from others here and letting go of expectations of how life *should* be and welcoming in a sense of getting the most out of the day in hand.
Also get out more! The chances of meeting the perfect partner are just as good in the world outside :)

Beautiful hike this afternoon; steep climb up past a 100' waterfall, stopping every once in a while to take in the woods around me.? Breaking into a run from time to time from sheer exuberance...imagining a beloved girl with me who revelled in this as much as I do.
