This journal has gone a long time without an entry. And the profile has gone even longer without an update, which is grossly overdue. Oddly enough, I have just breached one of my own hard limits. I swore I would never become such a cliché as the whip-cracking Dom in leather pants. Having the bullwhip was acceptable, because I still didn't have the leather pants.

I now have the leather pants.
I just came across such a once-in-a-lifetime bargain, that it would have been spitting at serendipity to pass it up. Still, thus far I have avoided the temptation to crack the bullwhip while wearing the leather pants. I cling to that for assurance that I have not succumbed to cliché.

Further to the last journal artical, I now have that singletail I wanted. Of course, the previous article referred to my playing with a 4' nylon snake whip intended for BDSM.

I didn't buy one of those.

No, I found a really good deal on a 6' leather bullwhip. And discovered that those extra 2' make a lot of difference in the difficulty of use. I won't be attempting to use this on a person any time soon.

Also, my whip wasn't made as a sex toy or a showpiece. It was intended as a working tool for real cattle ranchers, so it's far more functional than pretty. The wooden handle, though, was vastly improved by some sandpaper and a few coats of stain and varnish. Repeated conditioning treatments are slowly working their magic on the rest of it.

I never before had any interest in singletails. I knew they had iconic status, but they're not all that useful. You can do so much more with a good crop or flogger. Singletails aren't good for applying varying degrees or types of sensation. And most importantly, they require a lot of practice and skill before you should even think about using them on a person.

But this past Friday, I tried one out.

Now, I must have one. Must. They are wonderful devices. Given that I accidentally tore a light fixture apart with it, I don't have any expectations of using it in play without at least a year of practice, but just the ability to make that little thunderclap makes the acquisition worthwhile.

I've just finished reading "Miss Abernathy's Concise Slave Training Manual," and found it very useful indeed. Unlike most 'how-to' manuals, it doesn't even touch on strike zones, or bondage knots, or other such things I've read many times before. Where it excels is strictly in the area of the D/s relationship and its management.

Having read it, I've now rethought my position on codifying a relationship with slave contracts and the like. Though it still seems somewhat cold and mechanical, I now appreciate how welcome the structure such documents provide can be to a sub. I've thus begun setting down my hitherto unwritten Code of Behaviour for a submissive. It's much lengthier than I originally realized.

My past journal entry is grossly out of date. I now have the beginnings of a decent toy bag, have played with two submissives (not simultaneously) and have made a few visits to Breathless. Very much looking forward to the local fet-fair this coming weekend.

In the few weeks since I decided to explore my interest in BDSM, I have seen a septuagenarian dominant, a huge biker-type guy in a miniskirt, and all manner of things in between. I haven't actually DONE anything yet, but I've encountered more than I expected to so soon.

On an upbeat note, I have made a ballgag -- purple, 1.5" diameter, with a basic black strap. I think it's very nice, but I don't have much basis on which to judge it. Now I need a test subject to try it on.
