I still consider myself a novice, even though I've been in and out of the lifestyle for about ten years. Recently, I decided that it's time to be back "in". Others who are parents are usually understanding of this rule, but I've found that people without children in their lives are less understanding or patient about it. Sorry, my son comes first.
