i am 39, never been married, not dating, last serious relationship ended a few years ago (partly b/c i sensed he would never be comfortable with the responsibility at this level), i do not have any children. i have short dark hair, brown eyes, and am zaftig. To the outside world i am gregarious, extroverted and commanding. i suspect this comes as little surprise, as i many sub women are similar.

I've been busy this past year, applying for graduate school, starting graduate school, moving, travelling, teaching, learning, being in and mostly out of my comfort zone.? What a ride!? Over Thanksgiving week I spent time on an in-town vacation house-sitting, reading, and figuring out what I want.? In the midst of this soul search someone played what I like to call, "The Bullshit Card"? :)? He said, "It's funny, for someone steadfastly claiming that you're only a submissive, the word 'pet' in your name suggests a deeper surrender.? Any thoughts?"
Yes, a million!? Strong, reactionary thoughts followed by breath shortening thoughts, followed by calm, power-full thoughts.?
I still hold I do not long to be a slave, for I have seen many use that word in ways that suggest giving up all thought.? I know many do not define the role in this way, but for me the word carries a lack of choice connotation.? I *do* desire a deeper surrender, a devoted, deep, loving at choice surrender with someone who wants someone who is devoted and trusting and trusts himself enough to take on that responsibility.?
Initially, I chose portlandpet because I am a language geek and love alliteration.? As I view it now, pet (in whatever form that manifests) is the best word to describe what I seek.
