Why does society look at D/s as an alternative lifestyle? When we look backward to the "Traditional" lifestyle as we have come to call it, we actually find it closer to a D/s relationship than to today's "Traditional" marriage. Until the last half of the previous century the woman was submissive to her male partner. A wife deferred to her husband for all major decisions. The man controlled the finances and the lifestyle in which they lived. It was considered a wifely duty to please your man sexually at his wish. The �Traditional� wedding vows had the wife promising to obey the husband and not vice versa. A wife may have requested something of her husband, but would never demand.� It seems to me that the D/s relationship is the �Traditional� one and this �Partnership� idea of today�s marriage is the alternative lifestyle. In my opinion this is why the divorce rate is higher than ever in history. It is impossible to have Two �Head of Households.� I know this is not a popular opinion, and may cause some of you to think differently of me. Also realize that I believe that a man�s place is to ensure no harm, mental, physical or otherwise ever come to his wife. He is to cherish her and treat her with the utmost respect. Provide for her and his family. In general be an upstanding member of society. It worked for thousands of years before modern society decided to change it. |
