About mfract

A few years ago, reading a book on the first minutes implied by expansionary theory, I stumbled upon this quote: "The effort to understand the universe is one of the very few things which lifts human life a little above the level of farce, and gives it some of the grace of tragedy." Steven Weisberg. I continue to believe this is one of the more beautiful and insightful things that have been said about ourselves & our world.

Profiles generally contain scraps of useful information glued together with awkward transitions, so let me skip ahead to one of the parts that tends to be useful - favorites in books, music, movies, etc. My favorite books include The Poisonwood Bible (Kingsolver), V. (Pynchon), Invitation to a Beheading (Nabokov), The Fifth Child (Lessing), A Bend in the River (Naipaul), Stranger in a Strange Land (Heinlein), Jonathon Strange & Mr. Norell, Travesties (Tom Stoppard), Ender's Game (Orson Scott Card), QED (Feynman), Infinite Jest (Wallace), many others.

Movies, a random list of recently-seen-or-reseen favorites - Pan's Labyrinth, Spirited Away, All About Eve, Ran, Barry Lyndon, Secretary, Rear Window.

What am I into: in a casual conversation, the normal answer would be, applied mathematics - among mathematicians, I'd specify 'computational PDE'. You don't have to know what this is, and I'd rather you didn't - work is work, play is play. If you like, you can think of my job as a kind of research & development, refining tools for physicists & engineers to use when building nuclear reactors that won't up and annihilate your unsuspecting neighborhood, or improving $1 water bottles so they don't leak carcinogens into your beverage when you refill them.

I'm not seeking anything deep or intensive - casual, safe, fun play sounds fun and engaging enough. I'm in the unique and comfortable situation of being very experienced without being terribly picky about specific interests. So, the answer to 'what are you into' that's more relevant to this site: plenty of kink, with some caveats. I generally do not submit or 'switch,' and I do not wear costumes (you are welcome to). I don't engage in rape play, since "not taking no for an answer" strikes me as a breach of gentlemanly decency. As a side note, I also believe that many other self-styled male 'doms', especially younger men, misinterpret 'dominant' as 'excuse to be an asshole.'

Now that you've read through this mini-profile, you really ought to go ahead and message me - it'd be impolite not to. Send me a note with some of your own 'favorites' - whether books or experiences. I'd love to hear from you - if that weren't the case, I wouldn't have gone through all this trouble typing up paragraphs.
