I received feedback from one woman that she had problems with the word "whore" in my profile.  I certainly didn't intend it to mean that I will rent my woman out for money.  I meant it more in the context that of the famous Jerry Hall quote, "My mother said it was simple to keep a man, you must be a maid in the living room, a cook in the kitchen, and a whore in the bedroom.  I said I'd hire the other two and take care of the bedroom bit."

I'm reminded of the 90's when many women online started to incorporate the word "slut" into their personalities.  They were doing it to express their sexuality in an earthy, refreshing, irreverent way.  I know that it put off a lot of other women who were locked, correctly or incorrectly, into the pejorative value judgements that were associated with it.  The practice of taking words and reusing them has a long history.

One earlier example comes from Lewis Carrol's Through the Looking Glass.  One character, the egg if I recall correctly, explains that he uses words to mean what he wants them to mean.  Who is the master, he asks?  The egg or me.

An even earlier example was the way the colonists co-opted the term "Yankee Doodle" proudly, after it was intended by the British as an insult.

If anyone is interested, I can easily cite numerous other examples.  Just ask in private messages.

But the question remains, should I rewrite my profile to emphasize that I'm looking for a woman who is enthusiastic about sex?  Or leave it the way it is?  For the moment I'm not going to change it.  I welcome feedback.
