Maybe this makes me a snob, and I'm even occasionally guilty of using too many emoticons; usually because I have an incredibly sardonic sense of humor and I want to communicate that, rather than the literal meaning of some of the things I say. That said? If I have to translate your communiques into English? Or if the way you type makes me question if you graduated 8th grade? I am probably not interested. In fact, it makes me grit my teeth and pray to Darwin to kill me, to talk to someone who uses netspeak. If you want to turn me on, show me that you're well read and well spoken. ESL is sexy.
