It's my belief that, every so often, it's a good idea to take stock of oneself. By doing some self examination I stay on track to achieve my goals. I think it's even more important now because it's easy to lose your way with today's anything goes attitude. Living as a Gorean is a constant reminder to expect the best from myself and others. (no role play or costumes). In the past some of the things I've focused on are:
*Mastery of self; Understanding of self is fundamental to being in control of oneself. Once you've achieved that level of personal control and self awareness, only then would you be ready to take on the challenges that comes with the mastery of another.
*Consistency; You must be consistent in all actions and decision making. Frequent altering of what's acceptable or a boundary will lead to confusion and unhappiness.
*Honesty; I won't lie to get ahead in any aspect of my life.
*Honor; Personal honor is always doing the right thing regardless of the difficulty or inconvenience. Even when no one is watching or or would be aware.
*Principles; These are a persons ethical code and standards. These are the core values from which spring character & integrity. These values have been tested over time to show their truth. However I'll always be open to new ideas that would change my views.
*Accountability; Being accountable means personal responsibility for your actions or non actions. However when you add others, be they companion, wife, children or slave, you as the Master must also take responsibility for all they say or do. Accountability also means taking care for the now and future for all who are your responsibility.
*Communication; Many percieve communication as being able to speak well and clearly. To me that is less important than truely listening to what's being said.
*Mentor; To give help when asked or offered.
Each Master has his own preferences and techniques for keeping his house in order. I prefer not to be a micro manager. (Depending on how it's defined). However I will provide specific instruction if the slave is unfamiliar with the task. I believe in giving a slave goals. Whether it's having her learn a dance, learn new cooking techniques or positions. The end goal is twofold. My enjoyment of you and you feeling safe, content and happy as my slave.
My slave and I are always interested in making friends within the lifestyle.
