About Hylas

Polyamourous sensation slut with an insatiable intellectual curiousity and an imagination that tends to get away from me. I'm eclectic, intense, passionate, and more than just a little bit odd. Too succint for the taste of software, but wordy when the proper occasion hits. I am a poet, gamer, and cyclist. I am always looking for new friends and open to new relationships, sexual and romantic. I love to dance like a monkey and constantly have my head stuck way too deeply in the clouds. I have a bit of a geeky and perverted sense of humour, play way too many games, and own way too many books. I collect antique books as a hobby and always buy the books I read, which are usually science fiction, fantasy, or science non-fiction.

I'm doing a research project on stratification in the goth/industrial subculture. It's for my Social Stratification class at Pitzer this semester. I'd love it if everyone who feels they associate with the goth/industrial subculture (even if you don't consider yourself a goth) would fill out the survey below. All responses will be held anonymous and confidential. Thanks in advance. And please remember to respond in private, and not to post your response publicly. Also, for some reason Collarme is not cooperating with my style formatting, so please understand that when reading the survey.

Do you identify with the goth/industrial subculture?

As what kind of goth (or rivet) would you classify yourself?

What do you do for a living?

What is your average annual income?

What was your parents' average annual income (if known)?

Do you feel marginalized by mainstream society?

Do you feel discriminated against by other members of the goth/industrial subculture?

Do you dress gothy/rivety to work or more mainstream?

On a scale of 1-5, with 1 being least important and 5 being highest, please rate the following in importance in determining one's status within the goth/industrial subculture?

*Income

*Type of Job

*Fashion

*Taste in Music

*Social networking

*Club attendance

*Net presence

*Other (please clarify)

On a scale of 1-5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the highest, please rate how much you discriminate against others based on the following factors:

*Income

*Type of Job

*Fashion

*Taste in Music

*Social networking

*Club attendance

*Net presence

*Other (please clarify)

Do you have health insurance?

What is the highest level of education you completed?

What is the average rent per month you pay (if you own your own home, please answer ?homeowner? and state your monthly mortgage payments, if any)?

Do you live in what you would consider a good part of town?

Do you live where you would like to live?

Have you ever had to scrimp on any of the basic amenities (food, shelter, clothing)?

I got hit by a car today.

So, I'm on my way home from work. I'm on the tail end of a nice 18 mile ride (remember, I bicycle everywhere) and doing about 21-23 mph. I have the green light, nice and solid, and I'm in a line of cars passing through the intersection. Then a guy waiting to turn left guns it and nails me. He claims the sun got in his eye (Then why are you gunning it when the SUV in front of me is barely half way through the intersection?) . I got hit in the middle of he intersection and landed almost at the sidewalk. Thankfully I don't seem to have been too severely injured. I suffered a bought of shock for a few minutes (dizziness, naseua, the whole fun 9 yards) but that went away by the time the paramedics arrived. Now I'm just covered in bruises and abrasions and my left knee and shin *really* hurt. It's a bit hard to put my weight on them or to bend the left knee, but they don't seem broken. It's a good thing I'm very resilient. It really could have been much worse. This nice couple gave me and my bike a ride home (I was still 3 miles out and the police were going to take my bike to the police station if I left the scene any other way). I'm debating whether I want to get an injury lawyer to help me pursue his insurance company - I know I'm going to either way, at least to get compensated for the cost of replacing my helmet and repairing my bicycle. I'm also planning on icing my knee, shin, and left hand (it's kinda swollen). Tomorrow, I'll see how everything's feeling and decide if I need to go in for X-Rays. There's also the debate on whether to go to work tomorrow or not. If I do, I'll have to get up an hour early for the bus (takes almost 2 hours to get to work on the bus as opposed to the 40 minutes I can do it in on my bike).

For now, I'm just glad I'm alive and not hurt far worse.

I haven't played in years. Definitely too long. My last scene was a fabulous one with five total people participating at the Power Exchange in San Francisco. In one room they have (or at least used to have - I don't know if it's still there) a fantastic vertical chain spiderweb. I was shackled to one side with a female sub shackeld to the other side of it, both of us facing each other. One of my male dom friends topped her while I was topped by two beautiful women. Normally I'm not much a pain slut - I very much prefer sensation play. But these two through worked me up to the point where the flogging could be heard on the level downstairs.  I would love to find a domme who is skilled at sensation play to scene with. I'm fairly experienced - I helped found GGPET in SF, was a DM at Club Bound and have helped train subs and doms.
