Every reasonable Master/Dom knows that a slave/sub is free to choose the person she will serve. And no one, dominant or submissive, is obligated to engage in discussions with anyone he or she feels is unsuited. BUT... There is always a "but"... Anyone, Master/Dom or slave/sub, who has made a commitment to or expressed strong interest in another, and breaks off communication without any hint of explanation, is the lowest form of vermin. Sadly, there are more than a few of that ilk inhabiting the Collarspace universe. Those foul creatures underlie much of the frustration many members experience.

Wannabe's, fantasizers, fakes, liars, scammers--take them off Collarspace and maybe a few hundred members will remain. The wannabe individuals aren’t so bad; after all, we all were wannabes at one time. The fantasizers should burn their copies of “50 Shades of Grey” and join the real world. The others should be the victims in snuff films.

That said, there are some excellent Masters, Doms, Mistresses, Dommes, subs and slaves on the site. I know some of them. Weeding through the chaff to find the wheat takes patience, lots of patience, and it is worth it if you are serious about this way of life.

Recently I ran across a the name Adrian Blackwood. He is a Master and a writer. His story, "Willing," is the first of a series of books about hucows so it caught my eye. It's a good story. His other book, "The Slaves' Dhammapada," is about the best thing any slave girl could read, at least in my opinion. Both books are available at Amazon.com and maybe other places too.

I am not interested in arguing about the many meanings attributed to various terms commonly used in this way of life. I do want to make clear the meanings I attribute to the terms to anyone communicating with me. I have listed, below, my meanings for a few of the more commonly used terms in the hope of avoiding misunderstandings.

submissive (noun): a person who willingly submits in any of various ways to another, the dominant. The submission is limited in scope, often to 'bedroom' activities only. Outside the scope agreed upon, the submissive is free to do as she or he wishes.

submissive (adjective): deferring to the desires of another person. The submission may be temporary, permanent, partial, or complete.

slave: a person who is the owned property of another, having no rights and no privileges unless its owner allows. Absolute obedience to any and all commands is required by the owner.

Dom: a male who dominates another person, usually in sexual or bdsm activities. The domination may be short term or permanent, and it may be restricted only to certain activities or total and absolute.

Domme: female equivalent of Dom.

Master: a man who has one or more slaves or submissives, and assumes responsibility for their well-being, their safety, their major decisions, and who exercises control over their activities and, in many M/s relationships, their ways of thinking.

Mistress: female equivalent of Master.

Owner: a person who owns another as his personal property.
