Someone just asked me about the dragon pendant. It’s a bit of a long story... Several years ago when I got divorced I moved from the suburbs in Seattle downtown to the International District (Chinatown). I had never lived in the city and felt I wanted the change. I enjoyed the area and became immersed in its Asian cultures. Dragons, in Asian cultures, traditionally symbolize very potent powers; among others, control over water, rain, floods and hurricane. They were often used by the Emperors to symbolize Power, strength, and protection.
Not long after the move I lost my father to cancer. Power, strength and protection described my Dad’s role in the family perfectly. I was drawn to the dragon as a symbol and reminder of Dad. I have tried to fill his role in the family and in my relationships. Later in the year of the Dragon, the silver dragon pictured was presented to me by a dear friend. I wear it daily to remind me to care for the ones I love and I subsequently got a tattoo of its likeness done on my shoulder.
