	About DarkSpiral Welcome to my corner of CM. The site has become pretty messy over the past several years... and real people have become fairly sparse. I hold the leather title of Great Lakes Master 2005 I ran with my previous slave for International Master/slave 2006. I was a judge for the GLLA (Great Lakes Leather Alliance) Regional Master/slave competition as well as for the 2010 International Master/slave competition at South Plains Leatherfest (Dallas). Next year I'll be judging in SF for the NorthWest Master/slave competition. I have been heavily involved in the lifestyle since 1986, and deeply involved with the National community since 2001. If requested, I can provide both references from local/national leaders in the BDSM/Leather community, as well as references from those I have collared and/or mentored in the past. Whereas I am not a professional body-builder at any stretch of the imagination, I do care about my health and exercise regularly. I know what a shower is and frankly really enjoy using it. :-) I have experience with single pairing M/s as well as running a poly household. While I do not practice 'swinging', I do believe that there is more than enough love to go around, and I understand that one can love multiple people w/o sacrificing quality. I am NOT looking for casual play-partners. What I ~am~ looking for a permanent, primary slave. I am a firm believer in long-term training, and finding a 'playmate' for a night or two is not anywhere near my interest-list. GLLA was fantastic (as usual) although I shouldn't have predicted I'd have time to relax.? I think I slept less this past weekend than I have in any previous Great Lakes Leather Alliance conference.? o.O

I sadly won't have the time to attend the Master/slave competition in D.C. next month, but I am still on track to make the North West competition in San Francisco next April (I'd better - I'm still judging!).

Schedule for the next several months (thus far).
I'll be attending the Great Lakes Leather Alliance weekend in late August... and this time have ~zero~ responsibilities.? Whew!? I can relax!

I should be attending the Master/slave conference in Washington D.C. come labor day, and once again will be at the International Master/slave competition (SPLF) in February.

In April, I'll be judging the contest at NWLC in San Francisco - very happy to be helping out with that one!? More info regarding this as the date approaches.

My presentation for the International Master/slave competition (South Plains leatherfest) went off w/o a hitch.? If "the Path of Mastery" can work at SPLF, then it can work anywhere.? :-D

SPLF was fantastic as usual.? The judging was ~brutal~ (the difference between 1st and 2nd was 2/10th of a point... out of 500!) but was perhaps one of the most rewarding jobs I've ever done for the community.

Lots of changes around here.? When I first collared 'bella, we both new that she was here for both training and healing.? It turns out that I did too good of a job and she was ready to fly from the nest sooner than either of us had anticipated - if you consider 8 years *soon* ;-)? (leave it to me to work myself out of a job!).? I suppose that is the main complication with collaring a dominant - once the need for the collar is gone, they start chafing under it.
She is officially released with my blessing and is now off on her own - I wish her the best of luck.

It's been a long time since I've updated.? The candidate that we've been working with for the past several months fell through (we both wish her the best of luck!) so we are back to our slow-but-ongoing search.?

In other news, the next event we'll be attending will be South Plains Leatherfest in Dallas (Feb)... it's our favorite event of the year -- if you haven't been there, do so at your earliest opportunity.? This year I'll be one of the judges and presenters, so I won't be able to socialize as much as usual - but that doesn't mean I won't have time to say "hi" to anyone who catches me in the hallway. ;-)

...and even *more* things to do. ? Isabella was just asked to be a judge for the Great Lakes Master/slave competition in three weeks.

Looks like the next few months is going to be hectic.? Isabella is presenting at Great Lakes Leather Alliance (Indianapolis) in August, we're both attending the International Leather (San Fransisco) in October, and I am judging at the International Master/slave competition (Dallas) in February.

I was just asked to judge the International Master/slave competition at South Plains Leatherfest this February.? A mixed blessing to be sure, as it sucks out all my free time in Dallas this year... but frankly I'm honored beyond belief.? I will also be presenting a class either that Thursday or Sunday:? 'bella will be running a class at GLLA2009 this year.? Fortunately, this is a year where I have ~zero~ responsibilities at all -- so I may actually be able to enjoy myself for the weekend. :-)

Made it back from Internationals w/o dying.? Huzzah for us. ;-)? Met some old friends, met some new ones.? We found out that Midori's memory isn't what it used to be... but she still looks damn good - so it really doesn't matter.? ~waves~

Well, the Great Lakes Leather Alliance 2008 weekend went pretty well, although judging for the GLLA 2008 Master/slave competition was far tougher than I would have anticipated.? Now it's time to start ramping up for the International Master/slave competition in Dallas (Feb 2009).? If you are planning on being there, drop me a line - always nice to have new people to talk to. :-)

Well, 'bella hit it off with a good friend of mine (I got lucky on that one!), and he *somehow* (he is still confused on that as well, I bet) became a quasi-submissive to her.? She calls him a "human pet," and he doesn't seem to mind. :-)

I've happy for them both... And a bit envious of her - new relationships are magical!

In any case, I still wake up every morning happy that I managed to collar her before she found this dominant side of her personality, else I would have missed out on a wonderful slave!

I know that some of you have heard this before, but we wanted to cross post the information! Before reading, please keep in mind the following facts:

1) We are actively searching for more contestants for next years GLLA Master & slave competition. For 3 years in a row (or more!), there has only been ONE contestant pair - which is a real shame considering the great amount of serious community members in the lifestyle we have around here. We're including information on the competition to those who may be interested. ?
2) We aren't posting this to inflate our already enlarged egos. :-) Many in the community asked us to let them know what was going on, so we thought it would be more efficient if we caught everyone at once. ?
3) We are looking for volunteers. ;-)

So... without further ado:

We have the honor of being named the Great Lakes Master & slave couple for 2005. The GLLA (Great Lakes Leather Alliance) covers Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Kentucky - and is a pansexual bdsm and leather (duh) organization. For those who haven't been thanked personally (we hope that we actually caught everyone, in which case we'd like to thank you again!), we are very grateful for all the wonderful items donated to our auction basket. All proceeds from the basket have gone to the GLLA travel fund, which is used for the sole purpose of, well, travel.

As the GLLA title is an educational one, we are required (an honor, actually) to present at as many bdsm/leather events as possible in the GLLA area... and across the nation if possible.? As it turns out, the total proceeds from our basket, and our share of the proceeds from the Master & slave service auction (that took place the same weekend) will barely be enough (probably a little shy of, actually) to cover the entrance fee and travel expense of the International competition in Dallas, TX. So (we're hitting on #3 now), we are asking for ideas for fundraisers in the community.? Mind you, we're not asking for handouts... ;-) We ARE asking that if you have a small event or meeting planned, and have an idea for a potential fundraising activity (we are obviously willing to help out!), to drop us a line!

As far as the competition itself, here is the breakdown:
Speech (100 points)
Interview with Judges (150 points)
On-stage question (75 points)
Master/slave dynamic (75 points)
Presentation (100 points)
In addition, each Master/slave contestant pair is required to bring a gift basket for the Travel Fund Auction. The contestant pair may choose to present separate baskets for the Master and the slave.

Any couple (again, pansexual!) that feels that they might even be SLIGHTLY interested in competing next year... we would ask you to drop us a line and we'll fill in the details for the above categories!!!
The main requirements are that you self-identify as Master & slave and that you are in a long term relationship, and that's it!!!

We would like to thank (again!!!) everyone who supported us in preparing for the GLLA competition - including those that did their best (failing sadly) to keep us sane during the event weekend. ;-)
