The main thing that helped me realise that the way I felt was OK was reading about the non-sexual side of BDSM, particularly the D/s side. The idea of acting as carer, nurturer and protector for a woman is very appealing to me, and I can't deny that the flip side - the control aspects - are also very intriguing. The sexual side was what got me initially thinking about all this of course, but I definitely want more than just a bedroom BDSM relationship. The idea of being the right sort of Dom for a submissive woman is something I truly desire, and hope it is not too long before I find the right person.

Thought it might be a good idea to start using this to track my progress as a newbie Dom... both for my information and in case anyone else is interested. So far I've done a whole lot of reading, joined several sites and had some interesting chats. Going to my first much a week saturday hopefully - I'm nervously excited. Realising it was not only OK to want to dominate (whatever my liberal sensibilities might say) a willing partner, but that there was a whole community of people with similar feelings was definitely a huge moment for me. I'll talk more about it in further updates, don't want this to be too long, but I'm excited to finally be a part of all this.
