Seeking the Westley to my Buttercup....
Apparently it's been a while since I last updated my profile, and it occurs to me I should do so and, perhaps, reduce the snark level a few notches*.
[Interstitial addenda: Perhaps I went too far in reducing the snark level! Does *anyone* read a full profile before sending a message? To sum up, I'm not looking for a sub, a couple, an LDR, friends only, playmates, or an online romance; I'm seeking only someone with srs/LTR potential. Your message should give me something *more* than what your profile has already told me - copying and pasting your vital stats with a "your pretty wanna chat" is the opposite of appealing. Really, I don't wanna be too bitchy here, but c'mon - I spent n time writing it, you can spend n/2 time reading it!]
In the time since I first joined collarme, I've been in both vanilla and kinky relationships, and I've come to realize that I while I can get by on the former, I really really want the latter. ;-) Sex is too important a component of a relationship (or it should be, dammit) to forgo what you know you like.
That said, there's gotta be other stuff, too. I'm a social creature, but also love cuddling up in front of a movie. I read. I'm an NPR junky. I'm geeky - not enough to turn pro, but more mad skillz than the average person. I heart geeks. (I'm using that in the IT/tech sense here, but to me a geek is anyone with an unusually high passion for and knowledge of some particular field.)
I think the natural progression of things is email -> chat -> phone -> first "coffee" date. Be serious enough to realize that timeline shouldn't take months to complete. We all know it comes down to whether whatever virtual chemistry we have survives meatspace, anyway. :-)
* Some snarks remain constant, though:
- Be local. Doesn't matter to me how wonderful you are if it'll take you > 30 minutes to come over and kill the giant spider I just found.
- One line/generic emails will be ignored - unless it's an amazingly good line, and even then, it'll be ignored if your profile is mostly blank, sans photo, or you're not local. Ditto a C&P/canned message. Plz give me something to work with, okay? Thoughtful and thought-provoking messages from someone whose profile includes a photo will be reciprocated in kind. And you'll get bonus points if you know how to proof read and spell check. :-P
- Be actually, you know, available - legally/ethically/emotionally/realistically.
