I've been involved in BDSM activities for about four years now, but only got serious when I met my now Husband and began a full time monogamous D/s relationship.
Although our local kink community is wonderful, friendly and open, I simply haven't connected with anyone as a close friend. No knocking my vanilla friends, they're wonderful, but I can't tell you how many times I've caught myself about to say something that reveals my fetish preferences. Or the times I've barely caught it, and end up saying something that sounds utterly ridiculous and lame, but at least the word "collar" or "subspace" was avoided.
